Lesson 4: Responding to artists and Focusing on Line

Starter: Responding to an artist




Lesson Aims: To create a series of line studies that explore creative drawing techniques in response to your chosen theme/subject matter.

Assessment Objectives: AO1 / AO2 / AO3 / AO4

Lesson Objectives (during this lesson you will):
1. Reflect on your concertina and highlight the key elements you are taking forward from your artists work into your own studies this week
2. Start working directly from objects/imagery to produce a series of confident studies
3. Take sections of your artwork and experiment with drawing as a method of recording.
Extension: Create blind/continuous line studies in response to your imagery.

Recording:
Experiment with drawing as a method of recording - you can use these studies to go alongside more refined work and your drawings will help you gain a clearer direction for development of your project.

Plenary: Peer Feedback
Hold up your strongest study from today's lesson and in a clockwise direction say what artist you have been inspired by - what is successful about your peer's drawing?

Homework:

1. Complete written review and blu-tack in back of concertina
2. Complete a min of 3 confident studies - reflecting on peer and teacher feedback
3. Print and annotate contact sheet (include larger photographs to go alongside refined studies)
4. Buy A1 mountboard / folder / blu-tack for mounting of work next week.

Deadline:  First lesson w/c 28th September 2015!
